2019 Reading Challenge: 10 Books!

  1. Whoo hoo!! I'm also around the halfway mark on my goal. Lots on diversity on the list. I've been refusing to read The Hate You Give. What did you like about it? I'm curious. I'm pretty sure I've read zero contemporary books that deal with political kind of stuff.


  2. What did I like about The Hate U Give? It was incredibly well written. It's hard to read in the sense that it makes you angry and sad but that isn't a bad thing sometimes, especially when the story's about a young person getting killed by the police for no reason. it reflects the times and isn't that kind of what contemporary fiction is for, sometimes? I wouldn't call it political, though; it's societal and it's about systemic issues.
